    Methods for Natural Antibiotic Product Optimization

    Description of Technology
     

              This technology utilizes the predatory behavior of myxobacteria to select optimized antibiotic producing strains. The result is the rapid chemical optimization of natural product antibiotics including antibiotics and anti-fungals produced by microorganisms.


    Applications

              Methods for Natural Antibiotic Product Optimization can be used to find pre-clinical drug candidates that have therapeutic utility.


    Features & Benefits

              This technology has the ability to revolutionize strain optimization when compared to classical laborious screens. Traditional methods rely on screens – this technology utilizes the myxobacteria’s predatory nature to target prey cells that can be used for selection to isolate novel lead compounds that are active on clinically relevant pathogens.
