Office of Engagement and Outreach

HELPING FULFILL UW'S LAND-GRANT MISSION OF SERVICE TO THE STATE

The Office of Engagement and Outreach (OEO) was originally established in 2018, and recently reestablished in 2023 to elevate and expand UW's mission of community engagement, including our land-grant mission of service to the state. OEO provides institutional leadership to assist UW's divisions in shaping, supporting, and advancing the university's goals for community relationships via engagement and outreach.

We look forward to furthering our work across the university and the State of Wyoming to cultivate, catalog, and celebrate mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the well-being of our citizens and communities. "Pardon our dust" as we rebuild a website that centralizes engagement resources for citizens across Wyoming, as well as UW faculty, staff, and students. In the meantime, please reach out for assistance with community engagement and outreach.

UWYO Magazine Highlights Community Engagement

One of the many ways UW connects with the greater community is through the UWYO Magazine. The issue below, For the People: UW Touches Every Corner of the State, shares the power of relationships between the university and Wyoming communities. This issue showcases a range of impactful individuals and innovative statewide initiatives across industries and disciplines -- from arts, agriculture, and business to education, energy, and tourism. Innovation and service are hallmarks of the great work by people at UW and across the state.

UW Achieves National Community Engagement Designation

The University of Wyoming’s commitment to community engagement has earned recognition from the Carnegie Foundation. In 2024, UW received the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, acknowledging the institution's extensive outreach efforts throughout the state. Universities receive this designation only following a rigorous evaluation and documentation of their community engagement endeavors. This designation serves as a catalyst for the university to further refine its strategic approach to community engagement and expand upon existing initiatives.
