Welcome to Ecosystem Science and Management

The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management (ESM) integrates four disciplines: rangeland ecology, hydrology/watershed management, soil science, and entomology. In ESM, our students learn not only their own discipline but also how their discipline relates to others. Our research tackles the information gaps that are at the frontiers of science and resource management and reside in the connection between the disciplines. Our programs in extension and outreach offer integrated solutions to real-world problems that cross disciplinary boundaries.

• Undergraduate education programs include one major, six minors, and dual degrees in Environment and Natural Resources as well as collaboration with the Agricultural Education, Earth System Science and the Ranch Management and Leadership degrees.
• Graduate education programs include the M.S. and PhD in three degree programs, Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management, Soil Science and Entomology, a graduate certificate in Reclamation and Restoration Ecology and collaboration with three interdisciplinary programs
