Master Educator Competency Program



The Master Educator Competency Program (MECP) is a statewide professional development initiative designed for Wyoming teachers. Launched to enhance teacher expertise and career advancement, MECP offers an extensive array of over 35 professional development courses. These courses are instrumental for teacher licensure recertification and pay scale advancement. The program is especially beneficial for teachers in RIDE initiative-participating school districts, providing courses free of charge and offering opportunities for graduate credit applicable to the University of Wyoming’s Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Empowering Wyoming Educators

  • The Master Educator Competency Program (MECP) is a statewide initiative for professional development aimed at Wyoming teachers.

  • It offers a wide range of more than 35 professional development courses.

  • The program supports teacher licensure recertification and pay scale advancement.

  • Teachers in RIDE initiative-participating school districts can access MECP courses free of charge as EDCI 5959 offerings.

  • MECP courses in these districts can be bundled at no cost for graduate credit applicable to the University of Wyoming’s Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Teachers outside of the participating RIDE districts can still take advantage of MECP courses.

  • These teachers have access to EDCI 5959 professional development credit and graduate credits applicable to the Curriculum and Instruction M.A. program.

  • However, tuition and fee waivers are not available for these teachers.
  • Teachers outside of the participating RIDE districts can still take advantage of MECP courses.
