UW Writing Center

Use our free services to become a more effective and confident writer!

Meet with a trained writing consultant up to four times per week to receive help with any writing project, at any stage of the writing process. If you would like a real-time consultation, choose a Face-to-Face or Video Conferencing appointment. If you don't want to meet a writing consultant, we have an asynchronous option called Review and Return.

Spring 2024 Hours

Our main Writing Center is located in Coe Library, Level 1. We are open Monday-Friday and are closed on the weekend. Here are our hours of operation:

  • Monday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition, we run a Writing Center satellite center in the Buchanan Center for Performing Arts (next to Room 2047) on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm. If you are looking for help with science writing, feel free to visit our Coe Writing Center, or meet with a consultant in the Berry Center (Room 227) on Tuesdays from 11am-5pm.

Please check our Spring 2024 Schedule to see available openings for our main Coe Writing Center and the BCPA and Berry Center satellite offerings. If this is your first time visiting the Writing Center, you will need to make an account (separate from UW login).
