Facilities & Resources

Exterior of the College of Arts and Sciences

Our Historic Roots

The UW Arts and Sciences Building, originally known as the Liberal Arts Building, was constructed as a federal Public Works Administration project during the Great Depression. Construction occurred between Feb. 1935 and June 1936. In present day, the building has flourished to host countless performances each year, as well as the Dean’s Office, Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology, and the School of Politics, Public Affairs & International Studies. It’s located at the heart of the UW campus, with a beautiful view of Prexy’s Pasture right out the front doors. Learn more about A&S by exploring some of our stand-out facilities on campus and across the state below.

Alumni & Outreach

Fostering Strong Connections

At the College of Arts & Sciences, alumni and outreach services are critical in fostering a strong sense of community and engagement beyond graduation. Through these alumni networks, former students contribute their expertise and experience, enriching the academic and professional growth of current students. Each year, we honor one individual with the “Outstanding Alumni Award.” Additionally, the College of A&S’s annual magazine Elevations showcases how alumni all over the world are making a positive difference.
